Quick Start Guide: Creating a Project, Uploading Images, & Inviting Collaborators

Get started quickly in VeryBusy

Updated this week

VeryBusy is the best way to keep retouching revisions organized and collaborators on track. If you're just getting started, create a project, and upload a few images. Then share the project with a colleague – this will unlock the markup interface.

Create a Project

A project in VeryBusy is the container for the images you are working on. You can create as many projects as you need.

Once you click Create Project, just give it a name, and tell the platform if you're starting with unretouched images (R0) or the first round of retouching (R1). VeryBusy will automatically stack revisions uploaded based on the filename. It will even track when filenames are appended (e.g., filename_v2) or if the filetype changes.

Projects can be deleted anytime via the project settings. Feel free to create a test project to experiment with the platform.

Add Images to a Project

Drag and drop images from your computer or external hard drive into VeryBusy. The platform displays most image types, including JPG, TIFF, and even PSD.

Once you've uploaded images, double-click the a thumbnail to access the markup interface. This is where you can leave comments and draw on the image.

Uploaded images can be downloaded by clicking on the three dots next to the blue Share Project button.

Upload as many images as you have space for on your workspace. Once you meet the limit, you can purchase more space or delete images or projects.

Invite Collaborators to a Project

Click the blue "Share Project" button at the upper right of the screen to share a project. Inside the modal that appears, you can invite collaborators two ways.

Option 1: Invite collaborators via email. Choose the correct role to assign them permissions, and click Invite. The invitee will receive an email with a link that will take them to the project, and if they don't already have an account, they will be prompted to create one.

Option 2: Invite collaborators via link. This is a popular choice, as it allows recipient of the link access to the project without requiring a VeryBusy account. Toggle the link on next to the appropriate role, and copy the link.

Any project member can share a project, but they cannot attribute any permissions to an invitee above their own. The editor role is great for retouchers, art directors, and producers. The reviewer role is best for leadership or external clients. Assign someone as a manager to unlock full project control for the invitee (requires a workspace seat).

Read more about permissions here.

Markup Interface

Inside a project, double-click an image thumbnail to enter the markup interface. This interface is optimized to make the process of leaving feedback fast.

Once inside, the brush tool will be active. You can start drawing right on the image, then type a comment, and press enter. In addition to the brush, you can choose the line, box, or arrow tool. Clicking on any comment with a markup inside this screen will zoom into the markup.

Up to 3 reference files (max 1 GB each) can be attached to a comment (e.g., vector files). You can also @mention a project member in a comment, and they'll receive a notification.

If one or more revisions have been uploaded to the project, the before-and-after button will allow you to toggle between the current and previous round, and the side-by-side comparison button will allow you to compare any previous round to the current round.

When you download images from inside the markup interface, you have the option to choose full resolution (the size that was uploaded) or an FPO (a low res jpg), which is great keeping the size of mockups manageable.

There's much more you can do in VeryBusy, including custom labels and assigning images to project members. Check out our Getting Started collection here or read more about managing projects here.
