How to Leave Feedback on an Image

Updated this week

Once an image has been uploaded to a project, double click that image to enter the Markup Interface.

The Markup Interface

Comments and Markups

In the bottom left corner, you will see a set of tools above a field for entering comments. Type a comment and press enter to leave feedback without making a markup on the image. Attach up to three reference files at 1 GB each to any comment, and once uploaded, these files will be available to any project collaborator.

Alternatively, you can start drawing on the image right away using the free-draw tool, or you can select the box, arrow, or line tool or change the color or width of the selected tool for good contrast against the image.

Once a markup has been made, without needing to make any clicks, you can start typing a comment and press enter to add it to the comment thread.

Reply to a Comment

VeryBusy keeps replies threaded with the original comment. To reply to a comment, hover over it, and select the "Reply" icon on the left side of the comment. The person who left the comment will automatically be @mentioned, ensuring they receive a notification, even if they've muted notifications for the project.

Zooming

Zoom into an image by hovering over the image and using your scroll wheel, pinching on your track pad (if enabled), or clicking the + symbol at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Clicking on any comment with a markup, signified by a brush icon in the comment box, will zoom into the markup. This makes it easy for collaborators to find detailed and specific markups.

Likewise, selecting the solid arrow above the comment entry field and clicking on any markup will highlight the connected comment.

Labels

If needed, add, change, or modify the label in the center bar above the image. You may be using labels to indicate the status of an image (e.g., Ready for Retouching). Read more about labels here.

QA Revisions

If one revision or more has been uploaded, toggle between the current and previous round by clicking the A/B button adjacent to the image at the top right corner. Right below that button is Side-by-Side compare, which allows you to compare the current round to any previous round.

Approve

Once retouching has been completed and no further edits are needed, the appropriate stakeholder should click the "Approve" button at the top-center of the screen, above the image. This will lock the asset from further comments and markups.

Editing Comments

Although you cannot edit a markup that has already been added to the comments thread, you can edit any comment by hovering over the comment, clicking the three stacked dots, and then selecting "Edit Comment". You can delete a comment the same way. Note: comments that have already been resolved (i.e., they have a green check mark), cannot be edited or deleted unless the checkmark is removed.

Also, once an image is approved (signified by the Approve button at the top-center, above the image), comments may not be edited or deleted without clicking "Approve" (which removes the approval). Changing the Approve status will notify any users for whom project notifications are not muted.
