How to Upload Images, Revisions, and Folders

Upload assets, folders, and create folders.

When you're ready to upload new images, files, or a new round of an asset, you'll do it inside a project. VeryBusy gives you several ways to get files in — direct drag-and-drop, file browser, folder upload, integrations, and auto-sync from your desktop.

This article covers all your options.

Ways to upload

Pick the option that fits your workflow:

  • Drag and drop — Drag files or a folder directly from your machine into any project for immediate upload. The fastest way for one-off uploads.

Otherwise, click the New button and select one of the following options:

  • Asset Upload — Open your file browser and pick files from your machine.

  • Folder Upload — Upload a full folder from your desktop. Folders maintain their structure inside the project.

  • Create Folder — excellent for organizing projects by shoot date, segment, or status or for delivery of final assets.

  • Import from Dropbox — Pull files directly from your Dropbox without re-downloading or switching tabs. How to Import Images from Dropbox →

  • Watch Folder — Auto-sync a folder on your computer into a VeryBusy project. Drop files into that folder, and they appear in VeryBusy automatically. Learn more about Watch Folders →

Upload a new round

Purpose-built features to streamline revision tracking:

  1. Drag and drop files into the project, right-click an image thumbnail and select Add round, or use Add round in the Markup View.

  2. If the new files have the same filename as the previous version, VeryBusy will automatically stack them as a new review round and notify project collaborators.

  3. Smart Uploads detects similar (but not identical) filenames and lets you decide whether each file is a new round or a new asset. 👉 Smart Uploads — Beta Feature →

Metadata that is carried over on upload

When you upload a JPEG or TIFF with embedded XMP metadata, VeryBusy reads the star rating (xmp:Rating) and shows it automatically on the asset thumbnail and in the markup view.

Built for high-volume production

VeryBusy is built specifically for commercial retouching workflows, so handling large production files and high-volume batches is core to how the product works.

  • Upload and preview files up to ~3.5 GB — layered compressed and uncompressed PSDs, high-res TIFF composites, RAW files, and more.

  • Batch uploads run through a dedicated pipeline so large sets of files can be pushed into a project at once, reliably and at speed.
