An Overview of the Markup Interface

Updated this week

The Markup Interface is where you provide retouching instructions and communicate with project collaborators. To access Markup View, click on any image thumbnail inside a project.

Once inside, the dark blue bar at the top of the screen will display:

  • Breadcrumbs: These show the project you’re in and provide quick navigation back to the project dashboard.

  • Filename: Displays the name of the current image.

  • Round Dropdown: Allows you to view previous revision rounds of the image as well as associated comments and markups.

Right-Side Panel Tools:

  • Compare Rounds: Toggle between the current round to the previous round.

  • Compare Side-by-Side: Compare the current round next to any previous round.

  • Hide Markups: Toggle markups on or off.

  • Zoom (bottom-right): Use the plus and minus signs at the bottom left or use keyboard shortcuts (cmd/ctrl + + or -).

Floating Bar Tools:

  • Priority: See or change the priority of the asset.

  • Add Round: Upload a new round of the image.

  • Assign To: assign responsibility for the asset to any project collaborator

  • Labeling: Add or update a label for the image.

  • Approve: Mark the asset as approved, meaning no further revisions are needed

  • Download: Download the current image or the current image + all previous rounds.

  • Delete:

    • If you uploaded the last round, you can delete it.

    • If you are the project owner, you can delete the entire asset.

Comments Panel:

Comments are organized chronologically and listed vertically along the left-side of the screen. They are grouped by the round in which they were made. You cannot change the order of comments, but you can switch between "Unresolved Comments" (default) and "All Comments", displaying resolved comments from previous rounds.

Each comment includes:

  • Avatar and Timestamp: Shows who left the comment and when.

  • Seen By: Hover over this to see who has viewed the comment.

  • Markup Indicator: A brush icon next to a comment means there is a markup associated with it. Clicking the comment zooms you into the markup on the image.

  • Direct Mentions: To direct a comment to a specific collaborator, type @ followed by their name. They will receive an in-app and email notification, even if they have notifications muted for the project.

Markup Tools

These are located at the bottom of the comments panel.

  • The solid arrow can be used to click on any markup and highlight the associated comment. (Also, clicking on a comment will zoom into the corresponding markup)

  • Switch from the brush (default) to the line, arrow, or rectangle.

  • Modify brush color and size for good contrast against the image

  • Undo the last mark (or type cmd/ctrl + z).
